Sixth Month

Schedule a meeting between the resident and the new rotation supervisor. During this meeting the supervisor should give the resident any keys s/he may need. Other things to discuss include:
                Typical work hours
Protocol for missing work, sick or on leave
    Rules for answering the telephone
Rules for lunch, where people eat lunch, refrigerator, whether there is a coffee fund or a
    microwave cleaning schedule, etc.
    Rotation goals

The rotation supervisor should schedule a time for IT to provide the resident with access to the departmental folders as well as the printer (if necessary).

The resident must draft a goals document for the rotation keeping in mind the discussion s/he had with the rotation supervisor.  The goals draft should be emailed to the rotation supervisor and Gerald for review.  The resident should make any necessary changes and then send a final copy to Gerald and the rotation supervisor.

The rotation supervisor should schedule time to meet the staff as a whole. This meeting may be some sort of social gathering, reception, or a lunch if the department supervisor and resident would prefer a more informal atmosphere. Afterwards, the resident must schedule one-on-one meetings with those people who will work most closely with the resident. These people can be identified by determining which departmental members would help the resident achieve his or her goals.
